The CIF-SS Girls Division 7 league title races and playoff contenders are starting to become more clear. From this coordinators perspective, Thacher School (Frontier#1) has risen to the top of the division with a talented core group of players and an experienced coach at the helm. The Miramonte League appears to be the strongest league in the division with teams like Garey, Edgewood and La Puente all jockeying for the top places behind D6 Ganesha. The most intriguing sides in the division are a tough Indio squad, currently second in the Desert Valley League behind rampant league leaders Coachella Valley, and Aquinas, who despite their current 5th place position in the Ambassador, if they can manage a spot in the top four, the Falcons will be quite an unpleasant surprise as a first round opponent for an unsuspecting league champion. My wildcards to do some damage with the right playoff draw would be Capistrano Valley Christian, Bishop Diego, and the relative unknown Rangers from Santa Rosa Academy. If you have information about your team or your league that would help clarify the league championships or the D7 playoff picture, please feel free to email me at johnny.marmelstein@smaa.org and give me a heads up! Good luck the rest of the way, coaches!
